Ananda Bodhi Tree
The famous and sacred Bodhi Tree of the Buddhists tradition, Also known by Ananda Bodhi Tree & Maha Bodhi Tree, This holiest tree stands just near in-front of the ruins of Jetavana Monastery. This famous tree has surrounded by a brick wall with all side and also with a entry gate.
A branch of Maha Bodhi Tree in Bodhgaya, which was planted here by Ven. Anada as an object of veneration, at the time of lord Budha. This holiest tree still today stood and servives there at the time of lord Budha. To protect Ananda Bodhi Tree from any type damage due to strong wind, the Indian Government has provided steel stresses, to support them as by steel dilapidated.
The holiest Bodhi tree is famous for the tree under which the Lord Budha took his enlightenment. Here thousands of people like as Devotees, Pilgrims, Monks & Visitors come from all over India and also from foreign country like Sri Lanka, Japan, China and more. Also devotees worship with milk, curd, and perfumes such as sandalwood, camphor and so on.
Story of the plantation of Ananda Bodhi Tree:
- Ananda obtained the lords Budha Permission to plant a sapling of the Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree.
- Mahamoggallana, who was famous for his supernatural powers, volunteered to bring the sapling.
- But it was the wish of every one that king Pasendi should plant it but he declined the honor saying that the tenure of king was uncertain and his successors may take care of it all time to come.
- Thereupon Sudata ( Anathapindika ) was selected for the honor and with great ceremonies, he planted it in front of the monasteries.
- Lord Budha blessed and sanctified it by passing one whole night it in meditation.
- From that time, it took the place of the teacher during his absence for the devotees to make their offerings.
